Stefanie Griffey – Owner\Director\Supervising BCBA, LBA
Stefanie received her undergraduate degree from Randolph Macon College in 1999. She began her professional career as a special education teacher in 2000. She went on to get her Masters Degree in Special Education from Regent University in 2005, with endorsements in Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilities. She is currently a licensed teacher in the state of Virginia in these endorsement areas, as well as a licensed reading specialist. After several years as a teacher, she went on to acquire an administrative position and oversee classrooms for children with autism. Stefanie
completed her coursework through FIT and became a BCBA in 2009. For the next 5 years, she worked to bring principles of ABA to her classrooms to ensure quality and effective instruction for all students. When she’s not working with families and kids, she’s with her own family….her husband, two kids and dog! They love going to the beach, watching college football and doing work around their house.
Jamie Collins – Supervising BCBA, LBA
Jamie received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in 2003 and her Master’s Degree in Education from Old Dominion University in 2007. She is a licensed Behavior Analyst as well as a licensed teacher in the areas of Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and Learning Disabilities in the state of Virginia. She started her career as a teacher with regional special education program for students with Autism in 2006 and then moved up to an administrative position while pursuing her BCBA from Florida Institute of Technology. After nine years of working with the regional program, she joined the Coastal Behavior Consulting team in 2015. Jamie grew up in the Hampton Roads area and enjoys staying active with her family and two dogs. She is passionate about working with children with special needs in the community.
Rachel Hobbs – Supervising BCBA, LBA
Rachel is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been working with individuals with autism and other disabilities since 2004. She received her undergraduate degree and teaching licensure in Special Education from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2006. She then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education from Old Dominion University in 2010. She began her career as a Special Education teacher with a specialized Autism program in 2006, providing instruction to elementary aged children. In 2009, she moved up into an instructional support position within the same program. While in this role, she provided trainings and direct support for special education teachers, primarily focusing on assessment and individualized plan development. During this time, she began coursework for ABA and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2014. She joined the Coastal Behavior Consulting team in 2015 and strives to work collaboratively with families to facilitate progress for those with special needs.
Bekah Kelly – Supervising BCBA, LBA
Bekah earned her Bachelor degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Christopher Newport University in 2003. After teaching early childhood special education in the public schools for several years, she earned her Masters of the Arts in Education Counseling in 2011. Since that time, Bekah has worked with children with autism and various other disabilities in public and private schools, as well as clinical settings in Virginia. She has been a BCBA since May 2015 and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Board of Medicine. Bekah lives in Sandbridge Beach with her husband, two children and golden retriever. When not working, she enjoys yoga, gardening, home improvement projects and going on adventures with her family.
Katie Wynne – BCBA, LBA
Katie received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1991. She began her teaching career as a special education teacher in 1996. While teaching, she went on to receive her Master’s degree from Old Dominion University in Special Education with endorsements in emotional disturbance and intellectual disabilities. She is currently licensed in these areas as a teacher. After several years as a teacher, she went on to become an administrator with a regional special education program overseeing classrooms for children with Autism.
Katie went on to complete her course work through Florida Institute of Technology to become a BCBA in 2011. While working as an administrator she completed her administrative endorsement through Old Dominion University in 2015. When she is not working with children, she enjoys time with her family.
Kelly LaRue – Behavior Technician
Kelly received her undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary and her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Old Dominion University; she is endorsed in the areas of learning disabilities, emotional disabilities and Early Childhood Special Education. She started her career with a specialized Autism program in 2001 and has taught Early Childhood Special Education and Cross-Categorical classes through Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) from 2005-2015. While working for VBCPS, Kelly’s classroom was used as a model for other special education teachers and she taught staff development trainings related to Autism, behavior management and providing instruction to children with special needs. She nominated for Teacher of the Year and was awarded the “I Make a Difference Award” by her peers. She earned several school-wide grants related to communication and reading. She is currently working with Therapy Dogs International and her Bernese Mountain Dog to provide therapy to those in need. She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the children and families with which she works. Kelly enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her husband and three children.
Julia Robertson – Program Mangager
For over ten years, Julia has had the privilege of working with children of all ages with special needs, both in the classroom and the home. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from University of Virginia in 2010, she worked with a nonprofit in Spain, where she learned the importance of serving multicultural individuals and their families. In 2013, Julia began teaching for a regional school system, specializing in instructing children with autism and behavioral disorders. She received her Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and joined the Coastal tem in 2016. In 2017, she obtained her master’s degree in special education at Old Dominion University.
Ciara Parsolano – Behavior Technician
Ciara received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Ursuline College in 2013. During her time as an undergrad, she had the opportunity to intern at the Cleveland Clinic Learner Center for Autism which inspired her to pursue a career in this field. She had moved back home and was given another opportunity to work in the field at Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay, in Tampa, Florida where she was trained and became very knowledgeable as a Registered Behavioral Technician. The time that she spent at BCOTB gave her a great foundation to start preparing for her BCaBA exam. She is currently attending classes as the Florida Institute of Technology to prepare even farther to become Board Certified and grow in her career. She is excited to be here with us in Virginia Beach now working in the field she loves so much!
Felicia Shelton – Behavior Technician
Felicia began working with children and young adults with multiple disabilities at a residential facility in Norfolk, VA in 2010. She received her undergraduate degree in exercise science from Old Dominion University in 2011 and began her teaching career with a regional special education program in Virginia Beach in 2012. She then received her master’s degree in special education and Autism studies certificate from Old Dominion University in 2014. Felicia joined the Coastal team in 2015 and then completed coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology in 2016. Felicia now teaches special education with Virginia Beach City Public Schools at the elementary level. In her free time, Felicia enjoys watching sports, spending time with her friends and family, and spending time in the sun. She is passionate about serving individuals with special needs and is an advocate for children with special needs.
Elizabeth Sullivan – Program Manager
Elizabeth received her undergraduate degree in family and consumer sciences from Bridgewater College in 2010. After graduation, she began working with a regional special education program in Norfolk teaching with children with autism and behavioral disorders. Elizabeth received her Registered Behavior Technician credential in 2015 and began working with Coastal Behavior Consulting.
Greg Tidd – Behavior Technician
Greg started his career as a special education teacher for a regional program for students with Autism. After that, he taught elementary special education for 4 years for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. He recently moved back to the area after teaching in an Autism classroom for Fairfax County Public Schools. Greg developed a passion for working with children on the Autism spectrum and is currently working on becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In his free time, Greg enjoys spending time with friends, going to the beach, and staying active with his dog. He is also an active volunteer EMT with Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Amanda Villanueva – Behavior Technician
Amanda received her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy with a minor in Psychology in May 2016. She has been working with children and adolescents as long as she has been able. She started her post graduate career working with the Recreational Therapy Department for a child and adolescent behavioral health facility. She then began counseling children and families in-home, finding an interest in becoming a behavior technician. She was able to expand her knowledge and become a certified RBT by joining the team at Coastal Behavior Consulting and is currently pursuing her BCaBA at FIT.
Jenna Bednarek – Behavior Technician
Jenna received her undergraduate degree in Special Education from the University of Evansville in 2014. She is a Registered Behavior Technician and has worked in the field of ABA since graduating. She has worked in Indiana for a clinic based autism center, and in Florida at an autism school/clinical services. She recently moved to Virginia Beach with her husband, two dogs and two cats. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
Heather Gargano – Behavior Technician
Heather has worked with both preschool and elementary-aged children in both private and public school settings for the past 10 years. While working with special education students, she began implementing her passion of horticulture by creating garden therapy lessons for students which involve bringing nature inside the classroom. With a degree in Horticulture and credentials as a registered behavior technician, Heather has gone on to work towards completing a certificate program in Horticulture Therapy in an effort to bring garden therapy concepts to clients at Coastal Behavior Consulting. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and working in her garden.
Brittany Sykora – Behavior Technician
Brittany received her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy with a minor in Psychology from East Carolina University. Throughout school and after graduation, she has had the opportunity to work with children and adolescents of all ages. She moved back home to Va Beach in May 2017 and started her post graduate career working for the Therapeutic Recreation department for the City of Virginia Beach. Brittany became very passionate for the kids she worked with there, and decided to expand her knowledge by becoming a certified RBT with Coastal Behavior Consulting. In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her dogs, hanging out with friends, and going to the beach.
